The Hurlet Crematorium Donate £12,500 to ACCORD Hospice

The Hurlet Crematorium is delighted to donate £12,500 to ACCORD Hospice through its membership of the Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management’s Recycling of Metals Scheme.

Crematorium Manager, David McNaughton, said: “It’s an honour to be able to support ACCORD Hospice with this donation, helping them continue their vital work for families in our community.

“The cost of providing hospice care keeps rising, yet these incredible organisations rely heavily on charitable donations to keep going. We are deeply grateful to every family who has given permission for metals to be recycled following their loved one’s cremation. It’s a simple act that makes a real difference—every nail, screw, and staple contribute to supporting those in need.

“We’re proud to take part in this scheme. Since opening, we’ve been able to donate a significant amount to local hospices, helping to fund essential services for those facing incredibly difficult times.”

David McFadden, Fundraising Manager at ACCORD Hospice, said: “We are incredibly grateful to The Hurlet Crematorium and the ICCM Metal Recycling Scheme for this generous donation of £12,500. This funding will go directly towards ensuring that ACCORD can continue to provide compassionate care and support to patients and their families during some of life’s most difficult moments.

The cost of hospice care continues to rise, and donations like this are truly invaluable in helping us to meet the growing needs of our community. We extend our heartfelt thanks to The Hurlet Crematorium team and to every family who has made this support possible. Your kindness is making a real and lasting difference.”

David McNaughton added: “Care, compassion, and supporting our local community are at the heart of everything we do at The Hurlet Crematorium. Being able to honour people’s loved ones by giving back to our local hospice is something we take great pride in. We know it brings comfort to the families who give us permission to donate these metals to the ICCM Metal Recycling Scheme.”
